The African Courier is a communication forum for European-African political, economic and cultural exchanges, and a voice for Africa in Europe.
The Federal Ministry of the Interior and Home Affairs (BMI) has launched a portal to provide information and orientation support to people seeking refuge in Germany from fleeing the war in Ukraine.
“Germany4Ukraine.de is an information service for refugees from Ukraine. It provides them with a trustworthy, secure, digital contact point with the most important initial information after their arrival in Germany,” the ministry said on Thursday when the portal went live. The website offers information in Ukrainian, Russian, English and German.
“We want to offer war refugees from Ukraine a central, secure and digital contact point. Reliable and comprehensible information – on mobile phones in Ukrainian, Russian, German and English – is incredibly important in the emergency situation in which refugees find themselves,” Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser said.
“Together with numerous government agencies, civil society organisations and companies, we were able to provide an information service from the Federal Government at short notice…. We will continuously expand this portal,” she added.
Germany4Ukraine.de provides information on accommodation options, work permits, residence rights, school attendance and studies as well as medical care.
Relevant warnings from the police authorities are also posted, which specifically address the safety needs of women and children, who make up a large proportion of the refugees.
The portal is designed for mobile devices and developed according to the needs of the users, the ministry said.
