Taye Currency to headline Nigerian Independence Day celebrations in Berlin

Sensational Fuji singer Alhaji Taye Akande, better known as Taye Currency 1, will perform at the Nigerian Independence Day celebrations on 2 October in Berlin, Germany.

Taye Currency, an Ibadan, Nigeria-based Fuji artiste, will headline activities at an event marking the 59th National Day of Africa’s most populous country organized by Otun Promotions in the German capital city.  The event will also feature a dance contest and fashion show.

Nigeria attained independence from British rule on 1 October 1960 and Independence Day is an official national holiday in Nigeria. The festivities marking the day begin with the President’s morning address to the citizens, which is broadcast on radio and television.

Independence Day is marked across Nigeria and in the diaspora every year with music concerts and other cultural shows.

Many works of art have been done to eternalize the day. One of such is October 1, a 2014 movie written by Tunde Babalola and produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan.
