A three-day festival of culture, tourism, trade and diaspora engagement is set to transform a Munich venue into a gateway between Uganda and Germany this June — marking the most ambitious Ugandan public diplomacy event in Germany to date.
From 26 to 28 June 2026, the Embassy of Uganda in Germany will host the first Uganda Cultural and Tourism Festival — a three-day showcase of the country’s culture, tourism and investment opportunities that has no precedent in scale.
Taking place in Munich under the theme “Uganda: The Pearl of Africa – Culture, Heritage and Opportunity,” the event aims to promote the East African country’s rich cultural and natural diversity while strengthening ties between Uganda and Germany through tourism, trade and people-to-people exchange.
According to the Embassy, Munich was chosen because of its importance as one of Germany’s leading economic and cultural hubs and its strategic location in southern Germany.
Visitors can expect a colourful programme featuring traditional Ugandan dance and music performances, storytelling sessions and cultural heritage presentations representing different regions of the country. Contemporary Ugandan fashion will also feature prominently, offering audiences a vibrant experience of modern Ugandan creativity.
Moreover, food lovers will have the opportunity to explore Ugandan cuisine through tasting sessions and culinary exhibitions highlighting the country’s coffee, tea and agro-processed products. Uganda is one of Africa’s leading coffee producers, and the festival intends to use gastronomy as an important gateway to cultural exchange and tourism promotion.
Beyond entertainment, the event will also serve as a networking platform for business and investment engagement. Dedicated exhibition areas will promote Uganda’s tourism attractions, including gorilla trekking, safari adventures and eco-tourism, while investment information desks and business networking corners will connect Ugandan entrepreneurs, diaspora businesses and German stakeholders.
One of the anticipated highlights of the festival will be the Miss Uganda Schengen 2026 beauty pageant, which organisers describe as a platform for selecting a cultural ambassador to promote Uganda’s tourism, coffee and investment opportunities across Europe.
As official media partner, The African Courier will accompany the festival with extensive coverage in the coming weeks. The event is expected to attract Germans, members of the Ugandan community and the wider African diaspora from across Germany, as well as tourism professionals, investors and culturally curious visitors eager to discover why Uganda is proudly known as the “Pearl of Africa.”
