African leaders gather in London for investment summit

African political and business leaders gather in London on Monday, 20 January for the UK-Africa Investment Summit.

The Summit, hosted by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, brings together businesses, governments and international institutions to promote British investment in Africa.

Taking place in the wake of Brexit, the Summit seeks to strengthen the UK’s economic position in African nations, which are seeking investment from the UK.

By 2050, over 2 billion people will live in Africa and 1 in 4 global consumers will be African. The Summit seeks to mobilise British companies to explore opportunities offered by Africa.

The UK is already a leading investor in Africa and it seeks to expand its presence in the continent which has become important as the British seeks alternative opportunities as it leaves the EU.
