NIDO Germany partners Ehizoya on Nollywood Festival

The umbrella organisation for Nigerians living in Germany has announced its partnership with the organisers of the annual Nollywood Film Festival.

“Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Germany e.V. is delighted to announce its partnership with Ehizoya Golden Entertainment e.V. to deliver the 20th Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG), holding on 29-31 July in Frankfurt am Main,” the group said in a statement released on Tuesday and signed by its President, Femi Awoniyi.

The Festival, founded by Isaac Izoya and which debuted in 2002, holds annually and brings together African and European lovers of Nigerian films.

“NIDO Germany is partnering Ehizoya on the Festival and its sister event, Nollywood Europe Golden Award (NEGA), with the goal of increasing the visibility, awareness and international collaborative opportunities for the Nigerian cultural industries,” the group added.

“Aside from the audiences, celebrity attendance, the red carpet, the glamour and other elements that characterise film festivals, the films screened and the concerts performed at these events are a veritable vehicle of cultural diplomacy.

“We therefore recognise NFFG/NEGA as a useful forum to enhance understanding and to increase economic, social and cultural ties between Nigeria and Germany.”

NIDO Germany praised Izoya, Founder/Director of NFFG/NEGA, for “his steadfastness in, and commitment to, showcasing Nigeria’s cultural wealth in Germany and Europe over the past two decades”.

“NIDO Germany will mobilise its resources and contacts in support of NFFG/NEGA and hereby calls on Nigerians living in Germany and their organisations to actively support the events,” the statement added.

The 3-day NFFG/NEGA 2022, holding from 19 to 31 July, will feature screenings of Nollywood films, panel discussions on issues surrounding the Nigerian film industry, music concerts and an award gala night, at which outstanding personalities in Nigerian film and music, based at home and abroad, will be honoured.
