Africa Youth Festival holds in Berlin

A festival for young people of African descent will take place in Berlin on Sunday, 11 August. The event, tagged Africa Youth Days, brings together people from all backgrounds, providing opportunities for networking and exchange.

Organised by the registered non-profit organisation New Generation Berlin, the festival is a kick-off event of a series of activities ending with the Africa Youth Gala on 1 November 2019, proclaimed by the African Union as Africa Youth Day. One of the event’s goals is to demonstrate a clear commitment to tolerance and peaceful coexistence in society, but also to send a strong signal against discrimination, racism and all forms of exclusion.

Organised by young people, the festival is a colourful stage programme which will take place from 11am to 5pm at the central square (Leopoldplatz) of the district of Wedding. The event will feature live music, dancing, beat boxing, a circus and podium discussions, among others. Young artists will not only present their skills on stage, but also inspire the audience to develop their own potential.

In the supporting programme of the main stage performances, community initiatives, projects, associations and clubs will present their activities to the public through theme-based workshops and other events.
