This year’s Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam (AFWA) will take place from 25 to 27 August at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, organisers have announced. Emerging fashion designers from 24 countries will take part in the three-day event celebrating African and African-inspired fashion, art and cultural heritage.
AFWA 2016 kicks off with a press conference on 24 August, providing an opportunity for the media to meet and interview participating designers, the Nollywood superstar who is also the Week’s host, Ramsey Nouah, and other renowned artists who will be opening the event.
The event, whose theme is “Touch of Ankara”, will feature, among other things, catwalk shows, a men’s day and a gala night.
AFWA is one of the largest gatherings of African fashion designers, models, exhibitors, buyers, retailers, media, fashion influencers and businesses in Europe.
The organisers are calling on designers, exhibitors, buyers, retailers, partners and sponsors, who wish to be part of the event to register before 30 June.
