The African Music Festival 2022 will take place from Thursday, 4 to Sunday, 7 August at the Schlossplatz in the south-western German town of Emmendingen. After two years of small formats, it is possible to organise a large festival again this summer, of course within the framework of the current rules regarding Covid-19.
The festival programme covers 4 days, with each day having its own musical theme.
Thursday starts with Choir & Voices, Friday is traditionally dedicated to Salsa and Afro-Latin American rhythms, Saturday is Afro World Music day and the final day, Sunday, is for Reggae.
Among the top-class artistes from near and far who will perform at the festival are Sona Jobarteh, Sergent Garcia, Stonebwoy, Nkulee Dube and Gentleman. Soulvation, Golden Harps, Soulfamily, Ritmo Jazz Group and El Flecha Negra, who are from the region, will also be on stage in Emmendingen.
Special Afrobatic and young African fashion designer shows promise to make the festival this year an unforgettable experience.
The music programme will be enriched by a fashion show, the street parade, the interfaith service, dance workshops and readings, as well as a handicraft programme for children. There will also be delicious African cuisine and the Afro World Bazaar with clothing, fabrics, handicrafts, accessories, jewellery, decorations and much more.
Tickets are on sale online. Tickets already purchased remain valid.
