The President of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Germany (NIDOG), Dr RosaLyn Dressman, has been appointed the Diaspora Focal Officer (DFO) of Bayelsa State.
The appointment makes Mrs Dressman the chief adviser to the state’s governor, Senator Duoye Diri, on all matters concerning the diaspora.
The DFO also officially liaises between the government of Bayelsa State and indigenes of Bayelsa State in the diaspora.
Moreover, Dressman functions as the point of contact between the Bayelsa State government and Nigerian diaspora organisations as well as the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
While congratulating Dr Dressman on her appointment, Governor Diri called on the Germany-based development expert and social entrepreneur to bring her wealth of experience and contacts to bear on her new role as the state expects a lot from her.
Dressman, in an interview with The African Courier, said she would develop a database of Bayelsa indigenes in the diaspora and design programmes through which their home state can profit from their financial and human capital.
Dressman, who is also the founder and president of ATTEC, a technical training institute in Yenagoa, the state capital, thanked Governor Diri for appointing her and praised his government’s determination to actively engage Bayelsans in the diaspora in the development of Bayelsa State.
