Some journeys go beyond sightseeing. They touch something deeper — memories, friendships and the quiet feeling of arriving somewhere familiar. Our recent trip to Ghana was exactly that: a journey back to people and places that mean a great deal to us.
A Reunion, Not Just a Visit
From the moment we stepped off the plane in Accra, we knew this would be more than a business trip. We were reunited with travel author Jojo Cobinnah, someone who has shaped the way many Germans first learned about Ghana through his UNESCO-awarded book and travel guide Ghana Reiseführer. Known in Germany as an educator, linguist and author of acclaimed travel guides on Ghana, Sene-Gambia and Madeira, Cobinnah returned permanently to Accra in 2010 after living in Germany for nearly 35 years.
Yet his connection to Germany remains deep — especially with Reiseservice Sacco, with whom he has collaborated for many years. Seeing him again felt like reconnecting with family. He took us through “his” Accra — its vibrant streets, its history, its heartbeat. At the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the story of Ghana’s independence suddenly felt alive. In Jamestown, with its historic lighthouse and bustling alleyways, we felt the city’s old soul and youthful energy intertwine. Walking these streets with him reminded us why we fell in love with Ghana years ago.

A Visit That Touched the Heart
Among the most moving moments of the journey was a visit to the African Angel project in Accra, an initiative dedicated to empowering children from disadvantaged backgrounds through education.
There, amid classrooms filled with laughter, colour and youthful ambition, the group witnessed how opportunity can transform a life. The children welcomed their guests with confidence and joy, proof of what consistent support and quality education can achieve.
“The brightness in their eyes stays with us,” said Jane da Silva Sacco. “These children aren’t just learning to read and write; they are learning to dream. And that gives hope for a better future—for them, their families, and their communities.”
For Reiseservice Sacco, whose work connects thousands of travellers each year with different parts of Africa, supporting such initiatives is not an afterthought—it is a commitment rooted in decades of personal and professional engagement with the continent
Ghana’s Warmth Stays With You
Anyone who has visited Ghana knows that its strength lies not only in its landscapes or landmarks, but in its people — their openness, humour and genuine kindness. Whether we were walking through bustling markets, enjoying a meal or simply chatting with strangers, we felt embraced everywhere we went.
Ghana has a way of connecting you to the moment. The country’s rhythm — alive, warm, inviting — stays with you long after you leave.

Why Travel Matters
For us, as owners of Reiseservice Sacco, this trip reaffirmed something we have always believed: travel builds bridges. It creates friendships, deepens understanding and opens the mind. For decades, our agency has helped thousands of people travel between Germany and Africa. Today, Reiseservice Sacco is Germany’s biggest seller of tickets to Africa — a sign of trust that inspires us every day.
But beyond numbers, our work is shaped by relationships — like the one we have with Professor Cobinnah, and the many others we cherish across the African continent.
Looking Ahead with Gratitude
We returned from Ghana feeling grateful: for old friendships renewed, for the inspiring work of projects like African Angel, and for the warmth of a country that welcomes visitors with open arms.
Most of all, we came back reminded of why people fall in love with Ghana — and why so many return. It is not just a destination. It is an experience that stays with you.
For anyone looking to discover West Africa’s heart, Ghana is waiting. And we at Reiseservice Sacco are always ready to help you make that journey, with the same passion and personal connection that has guided us for decades.
