UPDATED – Nigerian embassy in Germany calls on applicants to re-confirm appointments for passport

The Embassy of Nigeria to Germany has called on applicants who had scheduled appointments for the issuance of passport to reconfirm their appointments with the mission.

A statement, dated 13 February 2020, signed by the Head of Chancery, Mrs Foluke Atanda, said:

“I am directed to inform that the Embassy of Nigeria, Berlin, is upgrading its appointment scheduling portal for a more effective and efficient user-friendly platform.

“In this regard, all passport applicants who have existing appointments from March 2020 to June 2020 should kindly contact the Embassy with proof of appointment confirmation to revalidate their appointments via the underlisted medium:

Phone: +493021230124, +4930212300, +4930212280, +493021230121

Email: pass-app@nigeriaembassygermany.org

“All passport applicants are hereby informed to note that effective from 2 March 2020, no applicant without a revalidated appointment by the Embassy would be allowed access into the Embassy’s premises.”

There’re speculations that some unscrupulous persons had hacked into the appointment scheduling portal which necessitated the Embassy to upgrade the system.

“We introduced the online appointment system so that you don’t need to know anybody to get appointment. A fellow Nigerian hacked into the system and he started selling appointment slots to his fellow Nigerians,” had revealed Alhaji Mohammed Bello Musa Anka, Minister in charge of the Consular & Immigration Section at the embassy, while speaking in Dortmund at the annual general meeting of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Germany in June last year.
