About 250 people came together for the event to press for more recognition of the challenges faced by Black people in Germany and for concrete actions to be taken by decision makers to address these challenges.

“Yet these bright, ambitious young people share a perception that opportunities to fulfil their aspirations at home are closed. This perception is held so profoundly that it has driven many to reject their known circumstances in favour of a potentially perilous and irregular journey to an unknown future in Europe.”

“I am aware that Japan does not accept dual citizenship, although Nigeria does. Because of this, I urge every Nigerian who has renounced his or her Nigerian citizenship not to apply for the e-passport at this centre or anywhere”
