Germany: Missing Kenyan woman found dead

The search for the 32-year-old Kenyan woman, who was declared missing in April has ended with the tragic discovery of her decomposed remains in a forest. Rita Awour Ojunge, mother of two, was reported missing on 7 April by her husband in the town of Hohenleipisch, in the state Brandenburg.

The police on Tuesday announced that after many weeks of searching, a decomposed body of a woman found in a forest neighbouring the town belonged to the Kenyan. The confirmation was made after a DNA analysis.

The extensive investigation to determine the whereabouts of the young woman began on 25 April, according to the police. A forest area of about 32 hectares of heavily overgrown forest was thoroughly searched leading to the discovery of the human remains which have now turned out to belong to the Kenyan.

The office of the public prosecutor is yet to provide information about the possible circumstances of Ojunge’s death.
