Germany: Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo addresses business conference in Dortmund

The economy of many African countries are booming. How can German small and medium enterprises profit from this success? The 5th German-African Business Forum  NRW (das 5. Deutsch-afrikanische Wirtschaftsforum NRW) will deal with this question on Tuesday 27 February 2018 in the western German city of Dortmund at which President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana will deliver a keynote speech.

Under the theme “Africa 5.0: Markets, Potentials and Opportunities for German companies”, the conference will provide answers and offer expert contacts, consultation opportunities and exclusive market data.

The forum is sponsored by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and its Prime Minister Armin Laschet is the patron.

A novelty of the annual event this year is the opportunity for African start-ups to pitch for partners at the one-day conference.

Last year, Africa attracted great attention among international investors. Never before was the political interest to develop trade relations with the continent so high.

Last year, the German-African Business Forum NRW was attended by more than 300 managers, entrepreneurs, officials and diplomats. On the occasion of Germany’s G20 presidency, numerous initiatives such as the Marshall Plan with Africa were launched in order to make Germany’s Africa policy more economically oriented. In view of these developments, the 5th German-African Economic Forum NRW on 27 February offers more opportunities than ever to establish contacts between African and German companies.

The forum will be opened with a keynote speech by HE Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana. Sabine Dall’Omo, CEO of Siemens (Pty.) Ltd. South Africa will give a high-calibre talk on how politicians can help German companies enter the African market. On the discussion podium will be Dr. Stephan Holthoff-Pförtner, NRW Minister for European Affairs and International Affairs, Günter Nooke, the Federal Chancellor‘s personal representative for Africa in the German Ministry of Economic Co-operation (BMZ), Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Ghana’s Minister for Business Development in Ghana, and Dr. Tobias Traupel from the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Last year, the German-African Business Forum NRW was attended by more than 300 managers, entrepreneurs, officials and diplomats.
