Berlin to host first Nigerian-German Trade & Investment Expo

The first Nigerian-German Trade & Investment Expo will hold in Berlin on 12-13 May 2022.

Making the announcement at the General Meeting of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Germany, held on 3 December, Femi Awoniyi, the group’s president, said the event would boost economic relations between both nations.

Organised collaboratively by NIDO Germany and the Abuja-based The African Trade Center, the trade and investment expo seeks to promote Nigeria’s natural resources to Germany’s investing community to attract foreign direct investment as well as create new opportunities for Nigerian goods and services in the German market.

“The Expo will exhibit Nigerian made products with a view to opening up new markets and export opportunities for Nigerian SMEs and manufacturers,” Awoniyi added.

While the focus will be on the oil and gas, mining and agricultural sectors, attention will also be paid to culture, he said.

“Nigerian non-oil sector endowment, comprising of culture, music and film (Nollywood), is huge and almost inexhaustible. There is therefore a limitless opportunity for Nigerian products in the German market and for German investors in the Nigerian economy,” Awoniyi added.

Awoniyi explains that the event, which is expected to hold annually, will support the economic diversification policy of the Nigerian government while deepening trade relations between Nigeria and Germany.
