MoneyGram Cup of Nations to be held in eight European countries

MoneyGram, one of the world’s leading providers of international money transfer and a multicultural company with employees from all across the world, is organizing the Europe-wide MoneyGram Cup of Nations 2017.

The football tournament is designed for young footballers aged 16-17 years of all nationalities and backgrounds living in eight European countries. As sport brings people closer, the goal of MoneyGram Cup of Nations 2017 is to bring people closer through football being a unifier of different cultures, irrespective of languages and backgrounds.

With the tournament, MoneyGram aims to support migrants’ integration and promote a better mutual understanding between the European youth. Football is a bridge that unites people of different origins and an ideal platform to send a strong signal against racism, xenophobia and nationalism. “Our money transfer services are predominantly used by migrants sending money to their families and friends back home. In every country and territory where we provide our money transfer services, we bring closer people of different nationalities and cultures. In this spirit, we have decided to continue MoneyGram Cup of Nations but this time as a pan-European tournament for talented young footballers”, said Michael Schütze, MoneyGram’s head of Central and Emerging Europe.

The preliminary rounds will be organized in Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, Poland and Spain in June 2017. Maximum of 12 teams in each country will compete to win the preliminary round and reach the finals in Warsaw in August. A multicultural program with food from all over the world and music & dance by cultural associations will accompany the tournaments. The German preliminary round will be held in Dreiech (“Sportgelände Maybachstraße”) on the 17th of June. Further information can be found on www.cupofnations.eu.
