Pan-African Women’s Day holds in Potsdam, focuses on business opportunities

The 10th Economic Forum of the Pan-African Women’s Day will take place on Friday, 26 July at the Chamber of Commerce (IHK) in Potsdam, Germany.

The event, organised by the Pan African Women’s Empowerment & Liberation Organisation (PAWLO)-Germany, will focus on the achievements of the struggle for African Women’s empowerment.

Dr Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana, the newly-elected Member of the European Parliament, representing the Green Party in Germany, will unveil her vision, plans and expectations for the political, economic, cultural and social relations between the African Union (AU) and the European Union at the event.

Ms Amina Tall, a director at the German-Arab Society, will give an overview of programmes for the advancement of women entrepreneurs in African countries that also belong to the Arab League.

Representatives of African embassies in Germany are expected to provide information on business opportunities in their countries and the Chamber of commerce Potsdam will also inform about projects for women entrepreneurs.

The issue of differences and intersections between social and business projects and activities will be addressed at the event, at which a mid-time review of the implementation of the UN-Decade for People of African descent in the relevant areas will also be carried out.

The 2019 Day’s theme is “Fit for the African market?” It’s a question addressed to decision-makers, entrepreneurs and others who are active or are planning to be in Africa.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in in-depth conversations with the speakers, present their own business ideas and forge new alliances, thus expanding their business networks.

“If you are an African female entrepreneur or a woman entrepreneur of African ancestry, your place on the 26th of July is at the 10th Economic Forum on the occasion of the Pan-African Women’s Day,” PAWLO-Germany said in a press statement. “If you are not but would like to be ‘fit for the African market’, make sure that you actively participate in the 10th Economic Forum in Potsdam.”

The Pan-African Women’s Day was established by the African Union and is observed every year on the 31st of July to commemorate the first Pan African Women’s Conference held in Dar es Salaam in 1962. It was on that occasion that the Pan African Women’s Organization (PAWO), which has the status of a specialized agency of the AU, was formed.
