Super Eagles united and ready for Iceland, says Mikel Obi

Super Eagles’ captain, Mikel John Obi has said that the team is fully committed and are united than ever to give their all for their country when they file out against debutants Iceland in their second Group D match on Saturday.

The Eagles’ skipper, who spoke to AOIFootball.com exclusively at the team’s base in Essentuki, assured Nigerians of their readiness, whilst promising an entirely different approach to the game against Iceland.

“The game against Croatia was a disappointing one for all of us because we did not play to our full potential; we have spoken as a team and we have learnt from our mistakes and will correct them in our next game.

“The game against Iceland will be a much more difficult game because they will be more relaxed after their draw against Argentina. They showed the world that they can be giant killers and we must approach them with all seriousness and go for all three points,” Mikel said.

The Tianjin Teda midfielder further urged Nigerians back home not to give up on the team yet as they are still committed to the World Cup cause.

“We remain patriotic and united to defend the Green, White, Green flag and I want to urge all Nigerians here in Russia and at home not to relent in their support for the team as we promise to make the nation proud come Friday,” Mikel concluded.
