Ghana’s President visits Germany, to meet Ghanaians in Berlin

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will visit Germany on 11-13 June.

During his stay in the country, he will attend the G20 Conference on Africa in Berlin on 12-13 June.

The conference will propose the ‘G20 African Partnership Initiative’ to spur private investment in infrastructure and employment in the continent. [The G20 is comprised of 19 countries plus the EU. The countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Republic of Korea, Turkey, the UK and the US.]

Among other activities, President Akufo-Addo, who will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, is also expected to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss issues of common interest to both countries.

Moreover, the Ghanaian leader will visit the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Academy on 13 June to present his vision for his country in a lecture, entitled Ghana – a rising star in Africa, before an audience including members of the German foreign policy and business elite.

Before the kick-off of his main engagements, President Akufo-Addo will meet the Ghanaian community in a town-hall format in the German capital on Sunday, 11 June. The event will hold at the Maritim Hotel in Berlin (Stauffenbergstraße 26, 10785 Berlin).

Representatives of the various Ghanaian socio-cultural and religious groups are expected to attend the meeting where the president will talk about the policies of his government and his efforts to tackle the problems of the country. The Diaspora Ghanaians are expected to offer their views on important national issues at the event.
