Afro Juju exponent and one of Nigeria’s most famous musicians, Sir Sina Peters, is on a European tour. The tour kicked off in Frankfurt on 1 October with a sold-out concert to celebrate Nigeria’s 56th independence anniversary.  It was the superstar’s first performance in Germany. Those at the event say it was a show to be remembered as the Afro Juju maestro lived up to his reputation as he put everybody on their feet with his beautiful music and entertaining stage wizardry.

Sina Peters will thrill his fans on 5 November in Amsterdam, which will also be his first appearance in the Netherlands. According to the Juju musician, he embarked on his current tour in response to popular requests of his teeming fans in mainland Europe.

After performing in the Dutch metropolis, Sina Peters, who founded the funky Afro Juju genre in the early 1980s, will head to the German federal capital on Friday, 11 November for a concert christened Love on Stage in Berlin by its organisers. The popular MC Yeyeoge Bukky Black will moderate the show, which will also feature cultural performances and top Afro hip-hop acts.

After the Berlin show, Shina Peters, who has been in the music business for more than 40 years, will fly to the Spanish city of Barcelona where he will thrill his fans at a mega concert at which Nigerians from Italy, Spain and Greece are expected to turn out in large numbers.

According to Prince Ade Abiola, the director of Sea Never Dry Entertainment, organisers of the tour, the concerts promise to be the best of such that have taken place in Europe for a very long time. “The package of activities will make these shows to be remembered for a long time to come in the African community,” he assures.

Abiola revealed that the current European tour of Sir Shina Peters is in response to his fans’ desire to host him in mainland Europe. The musician has performed several times in the US and the UK. // Sola Jolaoso
